Trail Programmer/Ambassador

Title: Trail Programmer/Ambassador (10-week Contract –$15.00 per hour @ 20 hours a week)

Reports to: Recreation & Community Wellness Department

Location: Port Hood, Trails and Remote


The Municipality of the County of Inverness is looking to hire youth between 18 & 30 as a trail programmer & ambassador.  The ideal candidate will possess a passion for trails and trail activities.


  • Collaborate with Provincial Organizations such as SANS, ATV, Hike Nova Scotia, and the Inverness Trails Federation toward making trails greener and safer for all users.
  • Work closely with the Trails Strategy Assistant
  • Work with Community Groups and trail users on trail related projects
  • Work with Municipal staff to host trails events
  • Work on environmental and safety programming and information distribution


  • High School Education or equivalent
  • Knowledge of trails, trail etiquette, safe trail use practices
  • First Aid and Training in Leave No Trace Principles would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, maintain good public relations
  • Capable of completing routine maintenance such as erecting signs
  • Strong attention to detail and above average organizational skills
  • Flexible, able to deal with change
  • Comfortable working outdoors, in remote environments
