Low Income Tax Exemption

Low Income property owners may be granted a yearly reduction of $150.00 subject to the following conditions:

  • Legal title to the property resides with the taxpayer.
  • The exemption shall only apply to owners who occupy the property as their primary residence (full-time).
  • Exemption shall not be granted to any account showing arrears.
  • An application form must be completed and processed every year.
  • Applicant must not be the recipient of provincial rebate program.
  • The maximum taxable household income shall not exceed $24,999.

When applying:

  • Proof of the previous year’s Federal Income Tax Return (Notice of Assessment from Revenue Canada) must be attached to this application.
  • T4 slips will not be accepted.

Please note that all information provided by applicants is privileged and confidential and will be destroyed once the application is processed.

Applications are due by March 31 each year. For example, to apply before March 31, 2026, applicants would need to submit their 2024 Notice of Assessment form from Revenue Canada.

Once application is submitted, if approved, you will see a credit for $150 on your next Property Tax bill.
