Volunteer Recognition 2022: Mary Anderson
Congratulations, Mary Anderson!
The Inverness Pickleball Association is happy to nominate Mary Anderson as our Volunteer of the Year. Mary has volunteered for many organizations over the past thirty years – St Margaret’s of Scotland Parish Council; the Inverness Hospital Foundation; the Shean Trail Committee and most recently the Inverness County Accessibility Committee.
Mary has always been an advocate of healthy living and whenever there is an opportunity to promote an active lifestyle, Mary is at the forefront. She was on the executive of the Inverness Curling Club for over twenty years, holding various positions and was instrumental in starting a youth curling league.
When Pickleball was introduced to Inverness County in 2018, Mary recognized this as an activity that is suitable for all ages. She quickly accepted the volunteer position as Cape Breton representative on Pickleball NS. She then took an instructor’s course in order to be certified to offer clinics to adults and students. As a result, the sport of pickleball has grown throughout Inverness County.
We would like to express our sincerest thank you to Mary for the amount of time and dedication she has committed to providing healthy opportunities for our community.
