The Inverness Multicourt Recreational Facility will be an accessible space located in the community of Inverness, with multiple courts for pickleball, and basketball, along with table tennis tables and bean bag toss games. Future phases are funding dependant and may include beach volleyball courts and an amenity building that would house washrooms, a canteen and storage unit for recreation equipment. The goal is to provide more access to physical activity for residents and visitors of all ages and abilities and to have locations that reinforce and expand our recreation programming offerings and enable local organizations to have the quality of facilities necessary to host tournaments which increases community visitation and supports local businesses.
Location:
The Inverness Multicourt Recreational Facility is located next to the Inverness Education Centre/Academy and the Ned MacDonald Memorial Ball Field. The entrance is at the end of MacLean St.

Project Timeline:
The project has been broken into two phases.
Phase One included the construction of the pickleball and basketball courts, table tennis tables, bean bag toss games, an entrance, parking area, accessible pathways, bike racks, lighting, bike repair stations, benches and garbage cans.
Phase Two would be funding and budget contingent and will be informed by community engagement.

What to Expect During Construction
As of August 2025, the project is nearing completion with acrylic coatings being applied to the pickleball court and lines being painted on the basketball courts.
The Municipality of Inverness County will provide an update once the facility is open for activity.

Construction Hours:
Construction work will be conducted during the following hours:
- Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Please note, work hours may vary depending on weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
Noise and traffic:
- There will be minimal impact to the surrounding area. Light construction noise may be noticeable during work hours.
Safety Concerns:
- Public safety is our priority, please use caution around the construction zone.
- Access to the construction site is strictly restricted. Unauthorized individuals are prohibited from entering the site for safety reasons.
Budget
- Government of Canada: $1,800,000
- Province of Nova Scotia: $614,000
- Municipality of Inverness County: $2,316,310*
*The municipal portion is expected to be further offset by sponsorship and naming rights, with an Expression of Interest to be released during the fall 2025.
