About Foyer Père Fiset

Foyer Père Fiset is a long-term care (LTC) facility located in Chéticamp, Nova Scotia. It is owned and operated by the County of Inverness Municipal Housing Corporation (CIMHC).
The facility comprises two residences:

  • A nursing home that provides care for 60 residents
  • A residential care facility (RCF) serving an additional 10 residents

The nursing home began operations in 1971, while the RCF was added in 2011. Foyer Père Fiset is also directly connected to Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, supporting the hospital by providing food services and laundry.

Redevelopment and Expansion

In January 2021, the Government of Nova Scotia announced a multi-year plan to invest in long-term care infrastructure. As part of this initiative, 264 new LTC beds are to be built by 2024–2025, with a focus on replacing outdated facilities that no longer meet the Department of Seniors and Long-Term Care’s modern design standards.

Foyer Père Fiset was selected for redevelopment under this plan. The goal is to provide a more home-like environment, where each resident has a private bedroom and bathroom.

A new, state-of-the-art facility is currently under construction next to the existing building. It will accommodate 72 residents and remain connected to the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre.

Construction began in November 2024 and is expected to be completed in 2027.

Location

The project is taking place behind the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre at 15102 Cabot Trail, Chéticamp.
