District 2 Residents Elect New Councillor

INVERNESS COUNTY, UNAMA’KI – During the 2022 Special Election for District 2 Councillor, residents elected Blair W. Phillips as Councillor. The results are as follows:

Alfred Aucoin – 235 votes

Shaun Bennett – 112 votes

John Carmichael – 78 votes

Seph Peters – 160 votes

Blair W. Phillips – 373 votes

Rob Romard – 4 votes

Declined – 2

Spoiled – 0

Voting was held online and over the phone in both official languages. There were 1783 eligible voters and 964 votes cast for a rate of 54.1%. This is an increase over the 2016 election, the last election in which there was more than one candidate, when approximately 46% eligible voters participated.
