About MPWANS

The Municipal Public Works Association of Nova Scotia (MPWANS) is an association comprised of Professional Engineers, Engineering Technologists/Technicians, Water & Wastewater Treatment Operators, Municipal Traffic Authorities, Public Works Directors, Managers and Supervisors from Towns and Municipalities across Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. The Association is a forum for Public Works Employees, Suppliers, and Consultants to discuss matters that relate to operations of Water, Wastewater, Roads, Traffic, Facilities, Fleet, Engineering, and all things related to Public Works.

Annual Conference

The MPWANS conference is an opportunity for association members to network with and learn from each other as well as Public Works vendors and suppliers from throughout the region.

2026 Conference

Hosted by the Municipality of Inverness County, the 2026 annual conference is taking place in the community of Chéticamp located on the northwest coast of Cape Breton Island. This year’s conference will be an opportunity for attendees to renew acquaintances with colleagues, make new connections, learn from leaders in the Public Works sector, and enjoy the beauty of Cape Breton leading into official the start of tourist season.

Present at the Conference

The Municipality of the County of Inverness is now accepting Expressions of Interest for conference presenters. We are seeking engaging, practical presentations that reflect the real-world challenges and opportunities facing Public Works employees in Nova Scotia. Topics may include water and wastewater, solid waste, roads and transportation, compliance, emergency preparedness, asset management, workforce development, innovation, and leadership. Individuals, municipalities, organizations, and industry partners are encouraged to submit proposals that share lessons learned, practical tools, and real-world case studies.
