Volunteer Recognition

Volunteers are truly the heart of our communities, and each year communities across Canada come together to celebrate National Volunteer week every April.

This National Volunteer Week will take place April 19-25, 2026, and will celebrate the ways in which people in Canada have ignited volunteerism in their communities, aligning National Volunteer Week 2026 with Ignite Volunteerism, deepening our collective impact.

In support of this week, every winter the Municipality of the County of Inverness launches a Volunteer Recognition Program, where community members are invited to nominate local volunteers who make a difference. Nominees are then recognized for the invaluable contributions with a certificate of recognition and a gift certificate from a local Municipality of Inverness County business of their choice.

2026 Volunteer Recognition Program

The Municipality of Inverness County has opened nominations for the 2026 Volunteer Recognition Program. Community organizations and residents are encouraged to nominate deserving volunteers who have made a meaningful impact in their community over the past year.

Nomination forms are available online or by contacting Culture & Community Development’s Project Coordinator, Shannon MacLean at Shannon.maclean@invernesscounty.ca or 1-866-258-0223.

Nominations will remain open until April 10, 2026.

An early-bird nomination deadline of March 13, 2026 has been set.

All early-bird nominees will be entered into a draw for the opportunity to represent Inverness County at the Provincial Volunteer Recognition Ceremony in September.

Volunteer Recognition Program recipients will receive a certificate of recognition, a gift certificate from a local Inverness County business of their choice, and public recognition through the Municipality’s Facebook page, website, and the summer edition of the Participaper publication.
