New Point of Sale System and Scale Tracking Software Installed at Kenloch Waste Management Facility

The Municipality of the County of Inverness is pleased to announce the successful installation of a new Point of Sale (POS) system and Strong Data scale tracking software at the Kenloch Waste Management Facility. These upgrades are part ongoing efforts to improve customer service, enhance accountability, and meet provincial solid waste regulations.

Until now, customers had to travel to the Municipal Administration Building in Port Hood to pay tipping fees. With the new system, residents and commercial users can now pay directly at the Kenloch facility using debit cards—making transactions faster, more secure, and more convenient.

The new Strong Data scale software also improves how the municipality tracks waste. Staff can now record material types, volumes, and points of origin with greater accuracy. This information supports better waste diversion planning, strengthens compliance with provincial regulations, and improves operational oversight.

To support accurate tracking, staff will now ask all customers for their civic address when using the facility. This information is used only for reporting purposes. The municipality thanks customers for their cooperation.

“This system brings us real-time transaction records, more accurate data, and on-site payment for the first time,” said Solid Waste Director Crystal Jones. “It helps us improve service while staying accountable to the province and the people we serve.”

The Municipality thanks residents and businesses for their continued support as waste services are monitored to better serve the community and meet provincial regulatory requirements.
