Tony Tebbutt
Congratulations, Tony Tebbutt!
Tony Tebbutt lives on Mabou Harbour Mountain where he and his wife Catherine built their new home in 2014. A big transition from Toronto to Mabou for sure.
Anyone who knows them (many) would agree; they have truly embraced the people and the place they’ve chosen to make their home.
Tony is a community builder, he effortlessly connects with people. With his feet barely planted on Cape Breton soil he contacted us at Celtic Shores Coastal Trail, quickly he became a relied upon volunteer with Mabou Rivers Trail Committee, thriving on the camaraderie and valuable work being done. From the trail committee Tony joined Mabou and District Community Development Association (MDCDA) as a director, over the past few years he has held almost every position on the MDCDA board and did almost every job from Christmas decorating, community and marina cleanup, fundraising and whatever was needed.
Tony’s biggest volunteer achievement came as Chair of MDCDA, which he reluctantly took on out of commitment and pride for his community. These were challenging times, membership was low, and seats on the board were difficult to fill. Tony persevered, he kept up the paperwork, scheduled and rescheduled meetings asking people to attend and sought new membership. Today MDCDA has a solid membership, great leadership, well attended meetings and projects on the go. Tony continues to play a strong role with MDCDA.
It’s hard to pinpoint all of Tony’s volunteering endeavours. He is always so willing to lend a hand whenever called on without hardly an ask. The epitome of a volunteer, do it, enjoy it and don’t expect recognition. Exactly why he should be recognized!
Thank you, Tony! Congratulations!
