Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee Seeking Feedback

INVERNESS COUNTY, UNAMA’KI – The Municipality of the County of Inverness Accessibility Advisory Committee is seeking public feedback on accessibility barriers and challenges individuals face in communities throughout the County. Feedback can be provided via participation in community video conference engagement sessions as well as an online survey. The feedback will assist the Accessibility Advisory Committee determine the highest priorities that need to be addressed in order to create accessible communities.

“One of the first and essential steps in developing the County’s Accessibility plan is to seek the public’s input on the accessibility issues residents are experiencing and impacting their lives,” said Warden Laurie Cranton, member of the committee. “These engagement opportunities will aid the committee in helping the Municipality become accessible and meet its obligations outlined in the Nova Scotia Accessibility Act.”

The engagement sessions will take place Tuesday, February 8th from 1-3pm and 6-8pm. To register for either session or complete the survey, residents can visit www.invernesscounty.ca/accessibility. Paper copies of the survey can also be obtained by phoning 902-258-7960.

The Accessibility Advisory Committee provides advice to Council on identifying, preventing, and eliminating accessibility barriers to people with disabilities within municipal programs, facilities, services, and initiatives. The committee also plans to play a role in educating businesses and organizations, while influencing the community to take steps to becoming more inclusive for its residents and visitors. OPPORTUNITY: Expression of Interest for Seniors’ Council

The Municipality of the County of Inverness is seeking twelve seniors (65+) or representatives of a registered senior service organization to sit as members on a Seniors’ Council. The Council will define key issues facing seniors today, develop strategies aimed at addressing and help build an all-inclusive seniors’ strategy for the Municipality of the County of Inverness.

Letters of application will be received from residents of the Municipality by the undersigned until 12:00 p.m. (noon) on February 14th, 2020. They should include a brief biography of the individual and information on skills or assets that will be useful to the Council. Applicants must provide three professional- and/or volunteer-related references with their application.

le 16 janvier 2020

La Municipalité du Comté d’Inverness est à la recherche de douze aînés (65 ans et plus) ou représentants d’un organisme enregistré de service aux aînés pour servir comme membres d’un nouveau conseil des aînés. Le Conseil définira les principaux enjeux auxquels les aînés font face aujourd’hui, élaborera des stratégies visant à éliminer les obstacles et aidera à élaborer une stratégie globale pour les aînés de la Municipalité du Comté d’Inverness.

Les lettres de demande seront reçues des résidents de la municipalité par la soussignée jusqu’à 12 h (midi) le 14 février 2020. Les lettres de demande doivent comprendre une brève biographie de la personne et des renseignements sur les compétences ou les atouts qui seront utiles au Conseil. Les candidats doivent fournir trois références professionnelles et/ou bénévoles avec leur demande.

OPPORTUNITY: Expression of Interest for Audit Committee

The Municipality of the County of Inverness is seeking two individuals from the Municipality to serve as members on the Audit Committee. The two members at large will rotate off in opposite years to maintain continuity. In the first year, one of the members at large will sit for a one-year term. The Committee carries out a detailed review of the financial statements with the auditor and acts for Council in a financial oversight role. Citizen members are required to demonstrate strong financial awareness.

OPPORTUNITÉ: Déclaration d’intérêt pour le comité de vérification
le 14 janvier 2019

La Municipalité du Comté d’Inverness est à la recherche de deux individus de la Municipalité pour siéger au comité de verification. Les deux membres vont alterner les années opposées pour assurer la continuité. Dans la première année, un de ces members siégera pour un mandat d’un an, et ainsi de suite. Le comité va compléter à un examen détaillé des états financiers avec le vérificateur et agit pour le Conseil dans un rôle de surveillance financière. Les members citoyens sont tenus de faire preuve de connaissances financières approfondies.
