Municipality of the County of Inverness

Georgina Poirier

Congratulations, Georgina Poirier!

The Green Door, Cheticamp is happy to nominate Georgina Poirier as their 2023 Volunteer of the Year.

Georgina was the Supervisor for the Green Door/La Porte Verte, located in Cheticamp for 44 years and worked tirelessly during her career to provide participants with intellectual disabilities a sense of independence and employment. With her busy work schedule, she always found the time to volunteer and to give back to the community.

Her commitment to volunteering has not waivered since her retirement in 2020. She continues to be a big part of the Green Door team as she volunteers and helps with several of our fundraising events and knits slippers for the Second Chance Boutique, which is one of the social enterprises for the Green Door.

Georgina also volunteers at St Vincent de Paul in various compacities by accepting food and furniture donations, and making sure they are redistributed to families in need throughout our community. She volunteers at CKJM radio station assisting with their weekly radio bingo, as well as helping sell Chase the Ace tickets for NIRCA.

We are so fortunate to have someone who is so dedicated to our community.

Congratulations, Georgina!
