Lacrosse Skills Camp 2025
Municipality Launches New Lacrosse Skills Camp
Young athletes in Inverness County will have the chance to learn one of Canada’s fastest-growing sports this summer. A new four-week Lacrosse Skills Camp is set to launch on Wednesday, July 23 at the Dr. Bernie MacLean Athletic Centre in Inverness.
Designed for children ages 6 to 13 with little or no experience, the camp offers a fun and active introduction to the fundamentals of lacrosse. Led by an experienced coach and former player, the sessions focus on skill development, teamwork, and building confidence in a supportive environment.
Camp activities include:
- Basic stick handling, passing, catching, and shooting
- Game rules, positions, and strategy through short, small-group games
- Speed and agility training tailored to each age group
- Team play that builds communication and sportsmanship
Participants will be divided into two age groups:
- Ages 6–9: Wednesdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
- Ages 10–13: Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
“This is an exciting opportunity for youth in our area to try something new,” said Jason Calder, Recreation Programming Coordinator for the Municipality of the County of Inverness. “Lacrosse is new in Inverness County, and this camp gives kids a great chance to learn the basics in a fun, low-pressure setting. We’re thrilled to be offering it.”
All players should bring a helmet with cage, lacrosse or hockey gloves, water bottle, athletic shoes, and a protective cup (recommended).
Registration is now open, and spots are limited. Any questions may be directed to Recreation Programming Coordinator Jason Calder at jason.calder@invernesscounty.ca or by phone 902-258-7273. To register, visit www.playfinder.ca.
