Whycocomagh Boil Water Advisory Update – May 27

The boil water advisory remains in place for Whycocomagh water system users today, May 27, 2026.

 There is no water conservation directive in place. Residents do not need to conserve water at this time.

Although there has been some progress on water testing results, work continues to investigate the cause to fix the issue.

Water Drinking Pick-Up

To support users of the Whycocomagh water system during the ongoing boil water advisory, the Municipality of Inverness County is once again partnering with the Whycocomagh Volunteer Fire Department to provide drinking water to impacted residents.

Water Pick-Up Details:

Date: Wednesday, May 27
Time: 3:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Location: Whycocomagh Volunteer Fire Department, 9519 Trans Canda Highway, Whycocomagh

Impacted residents may collect one four-litre jug of drinking water per person, with a maximum of three jugs per household.

• One-person household: one jug (4 litres)
• Two-person household: two jugs (8 litres)
• Three or more people: three jugs (12 litres)

For residents is need of assistance for water pick-up, please call the Municipality’s Public Works Department at 1-866-258-0223, option 4.

If the boil water advisory remains in effect, arrangements will be made for another water pick-up on Friday, May 29.

The Municipality thanks the Whycocomagh Volunteer Fire Department for its support and cooperation, as well as residents for their patience while staff continue to investigate the issue.

Background:
The Municipality of Inverness County issued a boil water advisory on May 22 for the Whycocomagh water system due to high turbidity, meaning the water has a slight discolouration.  As a precaution, residents are advised to boil their water before using it for drinking or food preparation.
