Public hearing: Wind turbine strategy
A public hearing will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 6 pm, for the council of the Municipality of Inverness County to consider and, if deemed advisable, adopt amendments to the Municipal planning strategy and land use bylaw for the County of Inverness concerning the regulation of wind turbine development.
This is in order to implement stricter development standards for utility-scale wind turbines, including
- new setback requirements from
- the coastline
- property lines
- residences
- revised noise requirements
- a revised zoning map increasing the area where the Utility-Scale Turbine Exclusion (UTE-1) zone applies
Written or oral presentations in favour or in opposition to the proposal can be made before council at the public hearing which will be held:
Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 6 pm
Municipal Administrative Building
375 Main Street, Port Hood
Copies of the staff reports, providing detailed information on the proposals, are available on the Eastern District Planning Commission website.
This information was posted to the municipal website on Friday, January 3, 2025, and will be advertised in the January 8 and 15 editions of the Inverness Oran newspaper in accordance with the requirements of the Nova Scotia Municipal Government Act.
