Sanitary Sewer and Water Main Replacement, Highway 19

Beginning the week of September 7th, pre-construction and construction work is expected no Highway 19 in Strathlorne and Inverness.

Hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

This critical water distribution and sanitary collection infrastructure in the construction area are significantly undersized to accommodate projected future flows. Additionally, the Nova Scotia Department of Public Works plans to resurface Highway Route 19 from Church Road in Strathlorne to the intersection with Broad Cove Banks Road in 2022.

Prior to resurfacing, the Municipality of the County of Inverness and the contractor Zutphen Contractors will be replacing the water and sanitary sewer mains and the Municipally owned portion of the water and sewer services from the bottom of Broad Cove Banks Road to the Strathlorne Tree Nursery. As the owner and operator of the sanitary sewer and water main, the Municipality is required to repair and replace infrastructure to enable operational compliance with federal and provincial regulations and ensure the capacity for current and projected residential and commercial growth is accommodated.

Drivers should expect delays in their daily commute. Please respect all posted road signage. Speed fines are doubled in work zones. The work site is off limits at all times.

Emergency vehicles and school buses will always have access in both directions.

The Municipality of the County of Inverness will inspect all properties within 30-meters of the construction area before construction starts. The inspection will document the exterior of all properties to verify existing Municipal Infrastructure conditions. This work is important to determine if the construction caused property impacts. All Municipal inspection staff will be carrying photo identification and photographic equipment during their work.
