Billing Options

The Municipality of Inverness County sends residents property tax and water utility bills by mail.

However, the municipality encourages residents to sign up for electronic billing. E-billing offers a fast, secure, and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional paper bills. By choosing e-billing, residents can access their bills anytime, anywhere.

Payment Options

Property Taxes are sent out every spring (generally early June), and due the last Friday in August.

Water Utility Bills are sent out every three months, March, June, September, and December and due within 30 days.

Please note, interest will be charged on outstanding balances at a rate of 12 percent (12%) annually. E-transfer

Residents can pay property taxes via e-transfer by sending payment to taxes@invernesscounty.ca.

Residents can pay water utility bills via e-transfer by sending payment to waterutility@invernesscounty.ca.

Please note, when submitting the e-transfer, indicate your account number(s). If paying several bills, please clarify the amount per account.

Credit Card

The Municipality has partnered with Paymentus for customers interested in using their credit card to pay their property tax or water utility bills. Paymentus is a third-party automated payment service that accepts Visa or MasterCard.

Please note there is a convenience fee of 2.25% of the total payment charged when using this service.

Why is there a service fee?

Paymentus charges a fee to use their service. The fee covers payment handling and processing charges. The Municipality of the County of Inverness DOES NOT RECEIVE any part of this service fee. Paymentus is an independent company providing a service for the Municipality and those customers wishing to pay by credit card.

Residents can make payments at the Administration Building, located at 375 Main St., Port Hood Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Payments can be made by cash, cheque, money order, bank draft or debit.
